Short Track #2
The second and final World Cup round began with another Short Track race the day after the first XCO. The body was feeling pretty tired but the legs weren’t too bad. I decided I would play some different tactics in the short track this time and hang back in the pack trying to conserve as much energy as possible and move forward in the last few laps. This tactic worked pretty well and as it was dry the race seemed a little more settled which meant it wasn’t so essential to be at the front the whole race fighting for position.
I managed to make some good moves over the last laps and was in a great position up the last climb. Unfortunately the rider in front drifted right and I ended up off the dry, fast line in some soft, boggy mud which cost me a few places and caused me to slightly lose contact with the first 6 riders before the all important finishing straight.
I was still able to sprint home to take 7th and bag a spot on the front row for the final XCO round 2 days later.
