Back to one of my all time favourite venues in Nove Mesto. After a rough few races I was just looking to finish a little further up the field in this World Cup and get some momentum going into the next part of the season.
Short track didn’t go well, starting towards the back and struggling to move forward. Each time I put an effort in to move up I got caught up in someone else’s crash and ended up right at the back again. The only positive being that after a very light week on the bike I was feeling a bit fresher.
In the XCO I had the main focus of finding a good rhythm and moving forward as the race went on.
On the first laps I was battling with a large group of riders in the 40’s and on the last couple of laps I started to make a charge forward, finishing strong in 39th, only 19 seconds off 32nd position.
It was nice to finish the weekend on a positive note and feel like I had made some progress.
Time to have a week off the bike to freshen the body up before hitting the next block!
